Erich L Stocker Picture

Erich L. Stocker, born June 24, 1939 in Philadelphia, PA to Lydia and Ludwig Stocker. He is survived by his wife, partner and best friend of 33 years, Francine Le Brant-Stocker. His two sons, Derek and Shawn; daughter, Kim along with seven grandchildren. Three sisters, Inga, Sandy and Rebecca (Doris deceased). Erich was the ‘big brother’, and he was adored and loved deeply by them.

He grew up in Hollidaysburg, PA. After high school, he spent two years at Philadelphia Bible College.

But he wanted adventure…..

In 1959, he joined the Air Force. He worked in supply, flew on AWACEC121’s and then his longest field, C-130 loadmaster. He spent 8 years in Anchorage, Alaska.

One of his most memorable missions was to transport a polar bear to a zoo in Massachusetts. That was exciting for him. He was in the cargo compartment the entire trip! His last years he was a Standard Evaluator, certifying other loadmaster performances.

In 1986, he retired as a Master Sergeant after 26 years of service.

But he never stopped working….

He had a very short stint working in shipping at Target before a 6 year career at Central Flying Service where he became Manager of refueling (entire commercial airlines).

In 1992, he purchased a auto pin striping decal/ground effects business. He called it Auto Graphics Plus. It was a one man operation. In recent years he spent Monday’s in Pine Bluff at dealers Trotter and Smart. They respected him and admired his quality work (it isn’t easy to put a pin stripe on a car/truck and keep it perfectly straight).

He loved all of his and Francine’s horses, as well as the many dogs and cats they had thru the years.

Francine helped Erich to learn to ride English and jump obstacles. In 1993, he was Long Stirrup Champion on their beloved ‘Twist of Fate’ (Sable).

Kiwi is his parrot. For 12 years, he sang Happy Birthday and Rock –A- By-Baby every night before sleep. Francine joined them.

He loved golf, exercising at the base gym, browsing stores.

Football was enjoyable for him. Francine would watch it with him in recent years which added to the fun.

He was a Loving, Caring, Compassionate man, and he will be greatly missed!

I’ll always Love you, Erich…..’Fancy’

Arrangements will be private.

Please make a donation in his name to an animal rescue organization of your choice, as Erich was a great lover of all animals.

Fe Mercedes Agustin Arellano Pati, 67

Dove-doves-32938347-1600-1200

An Angel named Fe Mercedes Agustin Arellano Pati was brought into this world on June 30, 1948 and at the age of 67 in Austin, Arkansas she began her transition into Heaven on March 24, 2016.

Fe was born in Tarlac, Tarlac, Philippines and was the second of five children born to Raul Arellano Sr. and Natividad Agustin. She was predeceased by her brother Willy Arellano and sister Leticia Mendoza and is survived by Marlene Ong and Raul Arellano, Jr. At the delicate age of thirteen years old, she lost her father and then became the unofficial eldest child several years later. She used these life experiences to create a solid foundation for her immediate family and extended that love to her friends as well. Instead of hardening her, it allowed her to have an even more generous heart that extended to family and friends who became her family.

In 1968, she received a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communications from University of the East in Manila, Philippines, and explored a successful and fulfilling career as an Executive Assistant in the Philippines and U.S., gathering even more friends at each job from Capas, Tarlac, to Chicago to Sunnyvale to Phoenix and then Arkansas.

On November 19, 1969 she married the love of her life Eddie Pahed Pati. Simply being around them, one could feel the strength of their love and the solidarity of their marriage. There was a beauty in the synergy of love and laughter often seen in the mere touch of their hands or a meaningful look across a room or their shared laughter at jokes they only understood.

She was a true extrovert that enjoyed merely being in the presence of others and this extended to creating memories with as many experiences as possible from epic family road trips in the U.S. and recording those memories in beautiful scrapbooks to honor each event. She also enjoyed the imaginary worlds that books brought her. She was blessed with a proverbial green thumb and enjoyed indoor gardening armed with her trusty plant mister and joyfully digging outside in her garden. She brought many joy with her cooking and fabulous parties. Those who knew her well enjoyed some of her specialties like shanghai lumpia and deviled eggs, and never realized that she had lists upon lists in order to attempt such a feat. She did all of it with grace, ease and a smile on her face as a gracious host. She often had a twinkle in her eye and she always had something positive to say about family, her children and grandchildren and always wanted to extend it even more. Her contagious smile, mischievous gleam, beautiful laugh and the joyous way she danced will not be forgotten. We know she must be gathering up all the other Angels to have yet another event to celebrate life and love.

She is survived by her husband Eddie P. Pati in Austin, Arkansas, her daughter Hazelle Marie Whited and son-in-law Joey Whited also in Austin, Arkansas, her son Michael Pati and daughter-in-law Theresa Diola Pati in San Jose, California, and grandsons Darren Visperas in Southern California and Abram Fessenden in Ash Flat, Arkansas.

The visitation will be on Friday, April 1 at 9:00 AM with the Ceremony from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM at Christian Church Jacksonville, 200 E. Martin Street, Jacksonville, AR 72076

Memorial donations can be made in Fe’s name to the National Kidney Foundation. We would like to share our heartfelt thanks to the friends and family who have been there for us during this time. Your comfort, understanding and prayers have made the days and nights bearable. Going through her scrapbooks we found some beautiful memories that awakened and strengthened our love for her. We know that she would want you to share a moment of love with someone you consider family and simply enjoy their company.

On behalf of Eddie, Marie and Joey, Michael and Theresa, Darren and Abram, thank you for your continued support, love, and affection for us, and for sharing your memories of Mom.

Donald Ballard MF Picture

Donald Ray Ballard, 74 of Hot Springs

“You are reading here online that I am dead.   Do not believe a word of it, for I am more alive than ever before.” I borrowed this quote from the great evangelist, D.L. Moody, because I couldn’t think of a better way to give such good news.

I am now with my Savior. I am now in my real home. This body that I have no more use for is dead and gone. If you want to shed tears, make them tears of joy. I am rejoicing in heaven. Remember that I am with my Lord! This past Wednesday March 30, 2016, was a time of great reunion. I am once again with my parents Melton (Buck) & Hilda Ballard, sister Cheryl Clark, Mom, Dad and Shay Mangiapane and all of my loved ones that have gone before me and we will be together for all eternity. I have had a life of 74 years and have been blessed beyond belief with a loving family, including my wife, Stephanie Ballard, who just shared our 26th wedding anniversary with me in February. I have also been incredibly blessed with my children, daughter Teri Ballard of Norton, Ohio; my son, Michael Ballard (Windy) of Rockford, Illinois(thank you Karen Ballard for them); stepchildren, Wendy Rooney (Ryan) of Hot Springs, Michael Kuykendall (Kim) of Hot Springs, and Joe Robinson of Knoxville, Tennessee and loving brother-in-law Shel Mangiapane of Texarkana, Texas. From these children I have been blessed with 17 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.

I was born in Rayville, Louisiana, July 13, 1941 and grew up in Akron Ohio then came to Hot Springs in 1984 to be close to my parents who had retired here. I opened Heritage Glassworks and began designing and building stained glass and etched windows and doors. This eventually became just a hobby. I worked in various other fields until my retirement in 2001. I have been active in my church and received much joy working in the food pantry and clothes closet with my friends.

Having reached the end of my life on earth, I reflect on the great joy that my family, church family and friends brought to me and on the relationships I formed throughout my time there. Thank you for making my life richer. When you read this I will have taken my last breath there, and the next in heaven. Many of you I will see again. Some I won’t and that is the saddest thing in the world to me. God has made provision that “none should perish.” That provision was the sacrifice of His Son. There is no way we can earn, buy, or work our way into heaven. The only way is to accept Jesus Christ into your heart and make Him Lord of your life. John 3:16 is the most quoted verse. “For God so loved the world, He gave His only begotten son, that whosoever believed in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life.” Please let that verse speak to your heart and receive that gift of salvation so we will meet again.

Yours truly, Don

The memorial service will be 10 am, Saturday April 9, 2016 at Harvey’s Chapel Baptist Church, 2515 Mountain Pine Rd. Hot Springs, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers please make a memorial donation to Harvey’s Chapel Food Pantry.

Carolyn Sue Fields Picture

Carolyn Sue (McNew) Fields, 70, of Maumelle passed away on Saturday evening. Sue was a woman of extraordinary courage and faith who accredited her resilience to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Her life revealed God so plainly that not even cancer, strokes, operations, or Alzheimer’s could prevail over her indomitable spirit.

She met the love of her life when she was only 17, and gave him her number at the skating rink. Their eventual first kiss wasn’t perfect, but after 52 years of marriage they finally got it together. Together they celebrated life, love and a passion for Christ.

In her early ministry, she served the people in Colombia as a missionary. As a pastor’s wife, state side, she directed many captivating choirs and extraordinary dramas. She held every relationship with fellow church members dear, praying for each one daily.

Sue was a living Christ-like example of love, honor, and integrity. She loved her family with every fiber of her being, constantly reminding her children they would be her babies “even when they’re 50.” Her children will continue to be her lifelong joy and wonder.

Heaven is now hearing a choir led by one of the best, but here on Earth may she continue to live on in the hearts and minds of the countless people that she touched. We love you. Until we meet again.

She is preceded by her parents John D. and Mattie Jo McNew; survived by her loving husband, Ray Fields; son Todd Fields (Wendie), daughter, Tiffany Fields Dennis (Chris); 2 grandchildren, Kohler King and Kylie Fields; 3 beautiful sisters, Joan Parker, Glenda Sutherlin (David), Denise Rozell; and her brother (Vernon McNew (Kathy); as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins.
